Best Way to Clean Tile Floors

Keeping your tiled floors as good as new requires clever cleaning techniques that will keep them shining. Tile flooring is durable and easier to maintain when compared to wood flooring or stone flooring. If you know what you are doing, you can maintain your tiled floors for years without any hassle.

Read further to find out some easy and basic tile care techniques for different kind of tiles and how to keep the grout away.

Different tile floors require different kinds of care. Some tile floors are very easy to maintain, such as Ceramic or Porcelain tile floors. They can handle most cleaning agents and remain shiny. Here’s how you can ensure their durability:

1. Sweep the dust away daily. Any loose dirt, crumbs, or dust that accumulates on the floor should be removed every day. It ensures that grime doesn’t settle or create permanent stains. You must also sweep away the dirt before you mop or wipe the floor

2. The right mop can give your tiles a longer life. While ceramic and porcelain tiles are usually resistant to scratches, the best way to take care of them is through soft rags or microfibre cloths. Be sure to use a mild detergent.

3. Keep stains away by drying your tile floors. Dirt that is not removed from a wet area can create an ugly stain. Or soap residue from mopping can cause discolouration. Ensure that it doesn’t happen by drying the tiles immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Cleaning grout requires a little more attention. Discoloured grout will make your tiles look old and worn out. A great-looking tiled floor is made of clean grout. You must avoid using harsh cleaners on grout as it can end up disintegrating. Here are a few simple tips to keep it clean.

1. Use items like a pencil eraser to simply rub away the grout. You can also use items like sandpaper or an abrasive tool to remove the more stubborn grout.

2. A combination of baking soda and water cleans like a charm. All you need to do is make a paste using baking soda and water and apply it to the tiles using a soft toothbrush. Scrub the paste into the grout and let it dry for a while. Wash away the residue with warm water and a soft rag.

3. Avoid using highly alkaline or acidic cleaners. Use warm water and mild soaps to remove any grime. You can also use a solution of bleach and water to get rid of tough stains. If your grout is coloured, use hot water instead of bleach.

Keeping your tiled floors ageless and as good as new takes some work. You must ensure that you are sweeping the floors regularly and removing any marks that are bound to stain.
