Biggest Mistakes to Avoid While Choosing Bathroom Floor Tiles

Your dream house would be incomplete if you don’t build the perfect bathroom that looks classy and modern, besides being extremely functional and comfortable to use.

One of the first things that you would want to choose when deciding the decor of your bathroom would be the floor and wall tiles. These are the main elements in any bathroom and the rest of the decor is usually in sync with the patterns and colours you choose for the floor and wall tiles.

But the look is not the only aspect you should consider when designing a bathroom. This is a space that needs to be clean and hygienic. You must choose tiles that are easy to clean and maintain because this is a space that needs to be cleaned regularly. Another thing that you must consider is choosing tiles that are safe for your loved ones and, therefore, have anti-skid and scratch-resistant properties.

Despite wanting to do the best for the bathrooms, there are some common mistakes that people commit when choosing tiles. We have picked up some of the biggest mistakes you can avoid making when designing your bathroom. Ensure everything is done right in your bathroom by avoiding these mistakes.

  1. The first mistake you should be careful about while choosing the floor tiles for your bathroom is its finishing. Do not make the mistake of buying glossy tiles for your bathroom floor, even if they look appealing to you, as tiles with a glossy finish are way more slippery than other tiles and can be very unsafe for anyone using the bathroom. You should instead go for matte tiles for your bathroom floor as that particular finishing makes the tiles anti-skid, which is a highly desirable quality for any bathroom. If you like glossy tiles, use them on the bathroom walls, but never the floor.
  2. The second mistake which you should avoid while choosing bathroom tiles, for either the floor or walls, is the material. There is a wide range of bathroom tiles available in the market but you should always go for the ones that are made of ceramic, a popular material. The ceramic material is extremely strong and will make the tiles long-lasting. Ceramic is known for its durability and is considered more resilient than any other tile material.
  3. The third mistake to avoid is not looking for anti-skid properties when choosing bathroom floor tiles. While choosing the matte finish will make your bathroom less slippery, as discussed earlier, tiles with anti-skid properties will make them safer as they come with high friction. So never make the mistake of checking this property put. Anti-skid tiles work well in households with older people and children as they are more prone to slip down on low friction tiles in the bathroom. So choose anti-skid tiles for your bathroom floor.
  4. Last but not the least, never make the mistake of choosing floor tiles first. You should always ensure that you choose the wall tiles first, in terms of colour and texture. This is because it is easier to get bathroom floor tiles that match with the wall tiles. A coordinate colour palette will give that special and creative look to your bathroom. A synchronized look will also be pleasing to the eyes and will stand out.

It is not a good idea to compromise with the quality of tiles meant for your bathroom as the overall look and feel of the bathroom will depend on that. Choose durable and easy to clean tiles for your bathroom. So choose your bathroom tiles carefully because after all, it’s not every now and then that you would go about renovating your bathroom.
